Volunteer
1. Transport Volunteer
Without a facility, SCAO depends on volunteers to transport animals to veterinary appointments, spay/neuter clinics, or foster homes. You could help by driving pets to and from these locations, ensuring they receive necessary care.
2. Community Outreach and Education
SCAO emphasizes education and outreach to improve animal welfare. You could volunteer to distribute flyers, host informational booths at local events, or speak to community members about responsible pet ownership, spay/neuter programs, and cruelty prevention.
3. Event Support
Nonprofits often hold fundraising or awareness events. You might assist with organizing, setting up, or staffing events like adoption drives, fundraisers, or pet resource fairs to showcase SCAO’s work and connect with the community.
4. Donation Collection and Distribution
Volunteers could help collect donated pet supplies (e.g., food, leashes, bedding) from local businesses or individuals and distribute them to pet owners in need, supporting SCAO’s mission to provide resources.
5. Foster Coordination
SCAO relies on fosters to care for animals temporarily. You could volunteer to coordinate with foster families, check in on animals, or even foster pets yourself if you’re able to provide a safe home.
6. Social Media and Advocacy
Help spread the word about SCAO’s efforts by managing or contributing to our social media presence (e.g., our Facebook page), sharing lost/found pet alerts, or promoting low-cost spay/neuter services to a wider audience.
7. Lost and Found Assistance
Volunteers might assist in reuniting pets with their owners by posting about lost/found animals online, canvassing neighborhoods, or working with local authorities and shelters to track down families.
8. Contributing to Fundraisers (e.g., Bake Sale)
Participate in fundraising efforts by organizing or contributing to activities like bake sales—baking goods, selling items, or promoting the event to raise funds for SCAO’s programs, such as spay/neuter assistance or emergency pet care.
9. Speaking to School Children
Volunteer to visit local schools to talk to kids about animal welfare, teaching them the importance of humane treatment, pet care, and how they can help prevent cruelty, fostering a compassionate next generation.
To get involved, you can start by contacting us via phone, E-mail, or our Facebook page (Stevens County Animal Outreach) to inquire about current volunteer needs. Since we are a small, community-driven organization, we may tailor opportunities to your skills and availability. Be prepared for flexible, hands-on roles that directly support their mission of humane care and resource provision!
